Membership FAQs

  1. Is there an age restriction for membership?

All of the LEO Clubs in Hawai'i are Alpha Clubs and open to ages 12-18. Some states and countries have Omega LEO Clubs and these are for those ages 18-30.

  2. How many members, meetings, service projects is considered "enough"?

That is completely up to you and your club! You know your club best and what they are capable of. If you are comfortable with one project a quarter or a project every weekend, that's entirely up to you and your club. Remember that family and work come before LEO Club so don't let it consume your life! However, if your club wants to do more and needs assistance, reach out to your sponsoring Lions, another club, or the district!

  3. Is there a membership quota our club must meet?

Your club can have any amount of members! Clubs that are considered "small" are less than 50 members. Clubs with 50 members or more are considered "large". These categories impact awards for number of service hours. Small clubs sometimes run into challenges as members drop-out of the program, graduate, or don't have enough members to participate in projects or to stay organized. Large clubs can sometimes be too busy to meet everyone's schedules and have difficulty staying in touch with all members. Find a group size that is right for you!
