Recruitment FAQs
Most of our club is made up of Seniors and they are about to graduate, how can we improve membership?
Get students excited about LEO Club early on! If you recruit new members and incoming students every year, your club should be consistent and hopefully grow, as well. Remember, Leos can be as young as 12 years old so if you have a Jr. High or Middle School, see if you can include them or create a separate Middle School LEO Club that will then feed into the High School Club.
Do you have any suggestions for recruiting new members?
YES!
And here they are:
Post flyers around campus about Leo Club - who we are, what we do, why we're awesome - with meeting time, location, etc
Hand out "business cards" with your basic meeting and club information so students can stick them in their wallets and have all the information!
Create a mystery about the club...create posters with positive actions and say to find out more...(don't forget to include the location, date, and time)
Kind of similar to the one above...stick sticky notes on everyone's locker with uplifting quotes and sign it...from the Leos
Send a box of cookies to each 9th grade homeroom, with a message that says "Join the Leos, we have cookies" - I would focus effort on the underclassmen because if Juniors and Seniors are not already involved, they're less likely to get involved now.
If the school is not able about advertising on campus, see if you can find another venue...maybe post a flyer at a nearby store, restaurant, etc - don't forget to ask for permission!
Use an upcoming event to raise interest - invite everyone (members, non-members, everyone) and when they show up to your event, share with them the reasons for joining!
Have a skit or talent show during lunch - you'll have a somewhat captive audience. Or even just doing a mini-club fair during lunch might work. Candy helps ;)
If you have a morning news at your school, have your officers go on and advertise your club or have an interview touching on key points about LEO Club.
